Early Findings
Internet Privacy Trends
To gain the trust of customers, companies must now prove to them that
protecting the privacy
of their information is one of their core values.
Currently, only around
25% of customers
are confident that they can trust companies to handle their private data properly.
The
New York Privacy Act
lets consumers decide on whether they want companies to use their data for commercial activities. They can also
demand for the correction
of their private data or request for their information to be removed from a company's customer list.
Customers can now
compel companies to provide information
on how the latter collect and use their personal data.
Based also on a study by Forrester Research, there is now a
growing concern among the consumers
on how their data is captured and shared by various companies.
They are also now more open to
proactively take action
to safeguard their information.
Given this outlook, the Forrester study prognosticates that there will be a
300% uptick in class-action
lawsuits that involve data privacy.
