U.S. Health Share Programs

Goals

To compile a list of 5-10 health share programs in the US, that cover families and ideally are national OR at least cover the States of GA and OH. The goal is to understand each program's requirements for enrollment, the cost for a family of 4, the different out of pocket costs, services offered, reviews, and exceptions.

Early Findings

During our preliminary research, we were able to identify 3 health share programs in the United States. We were then able to provide the requested information for one of the programs. We then placed these findings into a spreadsheet for easier consumption. Below is an overview of our early findings.
ProgramsThree health share programs that operate in the United States include Medi-Share, Altrua HealthShare, and Solidarity HealthShare. 
Medi-ShareEnrollment requirements for Medi-Share include agreeing to a Christian Testimony, where members 18 and older must "attest to a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ".
Members must also agree to live by biblical standards, bear other's burdens, and attend church regularly, live a healthy lifestyle with no use of tobacco or illegal drugs
, and go through an application review.
Monthly costs for a family of three or more range from $220.00-$846.00.
Each member’s household chooses an Annual Household Portion (AHP), instead of a deductible that they are required to pay during a 12-month period, this affects the monthly cost. AHPs range from $1,000-$10,500. 
Provider fees of $35 for doctor visits and $135 for emergency room care.
There is a one-time non-refundable $50 application fee for new members. 
New members must also pay a one-time $120 member fee and a one-time fee of $2 for setting up your sharing account.
